The Sensing Salon: How Is The Covid Pandemic Affecting The Human?

Abstract [en]

The Sensing Salon collaborated with artist and reader Arely Amaut to images a poethical reading for the question:

How is the Covid-19 pandemic affecting the human?

In January 2020, the Sensing Salon in Lisbon invited guests as well as Lisbon-based artists, activists and intellectuals to join a study group departing from the question “what would become of the human if expressed through the elements?” The conversation, experience and experiments of that week, as well as the global crisis that followed it, made it impossible to avoid the question: “how is the Covid-19 pandemic affecting the human?”, hence this reading emerges here.

The installation is part of the exhibition “Not Fully Human, Not Human At All” curated by Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez and Bettina Steinbrügge at Kunsteverein Hamburg from 24 Oct 2020 to 24 Jan 2021 and at Kadist, Paris from 9 April to 11 July 2021.
