Björn Larsson's photographs are based on a collection of naturalistic dioramas in museums in Uppsala and Stockholm, Sweden, and Åbo in Finland, that were created by Gustaf Kolthoff. These were designed in order to observe an artificially constructed “nature” and located in a purpose designed museum. Curious, dreamlike and artificial, the photographs play with illusion and perception and hyperreality.
